Sleep is soooo underated. 5 nights in a row of less than 3 hours of sleep make me super cranky. Finally got about 6 hrs last night. But there's hope. Doctor presribed 6 different types of pain killers and anti-inflammatories today so Allen will ba a very happy camper w/o the 1/2 bottle of beer for the next few weeks.
Its amazing how I keep taking my health for granted. One day I'm going to wake up and be "over the hill" and all the pills in the world won't let me do what I want to do.
Which brings up health care. Not only are peoples choices limited by their economic situation-but also by their health care situation. Standing in line at the Kaiser, I saw very sick people paying large sums of money for all their drugs or appointments. Its sad because I know I would limit my hospital visits if I had to pay major bucks each time. So those with little or no health care, wait in pain and get worse versus the "fortunate" who can get expert care readily.
We are what we choose to care about.
| Yuck. So I am here pulling my second graveyeard shift. Great because I'm learning and the Airport is really a beautiful thing at night. Sucks because its 2am and I've got at least another 2 hours before my beauty rest (and I need it!)
Learning new things is great. I think thats why I miss undergrad school the most and why grad school has no appeal. At work-opportunities to learn new things are limited and at grad school, you're suppose to use what you learn not really learn anything new.
So in visiting my sisters new 4,000+ sf house, I've realized:
a) I REALLY like big houses
b) Really big houses require really lots of effort to clean
c) I REALLY don't like to clean
Anyways, off to drive on the runways and hope no plane lands on top of me
| Okay, had a nice debate with Kenn Lee about the presidential election. But the more and more I think about it, the more and more it hits me how ridiculously antiquated this electoral system is.
Why if 50% + 1 of people in my state vote for someone does all the electoral votes in my state go to that candidate? It's not like its that hard for the math to be done and if 45% of voters in a state vote for a candidate, 45% of the electoral votes for the state should go to the candidate. I honestly can't think of any good reason to keep the existing winner take all democracy.
